VERONA: M-M-M MY VERONA!
Located just a five-minute drive west from downtown Montclair along Bloomfield Avenue, Verona prides itself on its small town charm. The community of 13,000 has four elementary schools, a middle school and high school as well as a free public library. With schools that are highly ranked, Verona was listed No. 3 of "25 Great Towns" by New Jersey Monthly Magazine.
One of the most striking features of Verona is Verona Park, a 54-acre park designed by the Olmstead Brothers, which features twin lakes and a picturesque bridge, perfect for biking, boating, jogging and walking or just spending a lazy summer afternoon with a good book. Special events including craft shows and concerts are held in the park.
Housing is relatively affordable in Verona, with a wide variety of condominiums, three-bedroom houses, Victorians and newer, bigger colonials.
While Verona is not on the New Jersey Transit Midtown Direct line — for which the closest station is in Montclair — the township has easy highway access to New York City about 20 miles to the east. DeCamp express buses run to the Port Authority on weekday mornings from Lakeside Avenue in Verona.
Verona residents are also within a 3 mile drive to Montclair State University Train Station, equipped with a huge parking deck for local residents to travel on the Montclair-Booton Train Line. Travel time to New York from this location is close to 40 minutes door to door.
